Greetings from DESIRE! Following my meeting with you, I am happy to furnish all the required details for your kind perusal.
We started our trust to help the physically challenged (“Differently-abled people”), poor, needy, and the socially and economically suppressed and depressed people. Through our organization, we have planned to do a project named Differently-abled Empowerment and Special Institution for Rehabilitation and Education, DESIRE for short. The aim of the project is to promote self employment and rehabilitation for the “Differently-abled” people for their sustainability. It has been prompted to bring about a social and economic change in the life of “Differently-abled” people and others from poor communities.
Compared to other areas, Coimbatore and Tirupur Districts have a lot of “Differently-abled” people at different levels. All have various problems, the main being getting employment opportunities, and despite having a good knowledge and technical skills, they are not able to compete with others. Due to many reasons, most of them do not have enough knowledge on present market opportunities .Therefore, our project “DESIRE” wants to create lot of opportunities for the “Differently-abled” people at an experimental level, like a garment production unit, computer related jobs, handicrafts and other vocational activities. Also, we plan to give various job-related training as well as psychological support, both for the “Differently-abled” and the poor.
Now, we are going to start job-related training programmes in Palladam. These programmes would be offered free of cost for people who are physically challenged and in the age group of 16 to 35 years. The duration of the course would be three months, covering topics like Tailoring, Computer basics and the accounting software “Tally”. These courses would be aimed at equipping students to update their skills and enhance their employment opportunities.
Consequently, we would initially need lot of help from various quarters. First of all, we need tailoring and computer machines.
